The Bread Basket
The idea of a German bakery in Egypt was born long before it was actually realized. Ulrike Staller always had a dream of her own bakery, not just because it was her profession, but especially because she loves the smell of freshly baked bread.
In 1999, she finally made her dream come true and opened her first shop in Maadi, Cairo. With machines and special flour from Germany, Ulrike, also known as “Uli” to all of her costumers, created bread, cakes and other German specialties and gave Cairo’s foreigners a “piece of Home” during their time abroad. More then ten years after the opening of Cairo’s traditional German bakery, Uli decided to expand. On the 26th of July 2010, the Hurghada branch finally opened its doors in the El Waffaa District. The project Hurghada required more then one year of planning.
Uli and the entire Bread Basket Team are looking forward to many more years of bringing a good part of Germany to Egypt.
